Missed your GLP-1 dose? What each label says

Missed an Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound or Trulicity shot? The missed-dose window from each US label, side by side, and how to keep track.

By the Steady team ·

A weekly shot is easy to forget: a trip, a busy week, a pen left in the fridge at home. Every GLP-1 label has a short instruction for exactly this, and they are not the same. The window you have depends on the medication, not on how long it has been since you felt it working.

The missed-dose window, label by label

MedicationTakenWhat the label says
Ozempic (semaglutide)WeeklyTake it within 5 days of the missed day. After 5 days, skip it and keep your usual day.
Wegovy (semaglutide)WeeklyIf the next dose is more than 2 days away, take it as soon as possible. If it is less than 2 days away, skip it.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide)WeeklyTake it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours). After that, skip it.
Zepbound (tirzepatide)WeeklyTake it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours). After that, skip it.
Trulicity (dulaglutide)WeeklyTake it if the next dose is at least 3 days (72 hours) away. Otherwise skip it.
Rybelsus (oral semaglutide)DailySkip the missed tablet and take the next one the following day.
Saxenda, Victoza (liraglutide)DailySkip it and take the next one as usual. After more than 3 days without a dose, ask your prescriber: the dose may need to restart lower.

Never take two doses to make up for a missed one unless your prescriber tells you to. If you are not sure what to do, call your pharmacist: it is exactly the kind of question they answer every day.

Missed more than one dose?

The table covers one missed dose. After a longer gap, some labels say your prescriber may restart you lower: the Wegovy label, for example, covers more than 2 missed doses in a row. Side effects such as nausea can be more likely when you go straight back to a high dose after a break, so this is a call for your prescriber, not a guess.

Compounded medication

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved and come without an FDA label. Use the instructions from your prescriber and the pharmacy that prepared your vial.

Make the next one harder to miss

  1. Pick a fixed shot day

The same day and roughly the same time each week. Most weekly labels allow you to change the day as long as doses stay a set number of days apart; check yours.

  2. Set a reminder you cannot ignore

Steady reminds you on the cadence you set, weekly, daily or every few days, and shows when the next dose is due on the home screen.

  3. Log it the moment you take it

A logged dose is one you will not second-guess at 11 pm. Steady keeps the date, the dose and the site.
