How it works
Protein
About 1.8 g per kg of your goal weight (or today’s weight, if lower), between 50 and 220 g, and at most 40% of your calories.
Calories
Resting energy from the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, times your activity, minus a deficit only if your goal is below today’s weight. Never below 1,200 (women) or 1,500 (men).
Fiber and water
Fiber scales with calories (20 to 45 g); water is about 33 ml per kg of your weight today (1.8 to 4.2 L).
Questions
Why anchor protein to goal weight?
To keep the target realistic when there is a lot to lose, while still aiming high enough to help hold on to muscle.
Is this the right target for me?
It is a general target from your numbers. A dietitian or your doctor can set one for you, especially if you have kidney disease or another condition.
How much protein should I eat on a GLP-1?
There is no single official number for GLP-1 users. Steady’s method gives about 1.8 g per kg of goal weight, within limits; your care team can set your own.
How much protein should each meal have?
Spreading your daily target over your meals and snacks is easier than one large serving. A dietitian can help split it.
Are protein shakes OK on a GLP-1?
Many people use them when appetite is low. Check with your care team, especially if you have kidney disease.
Can I use this calculator if I have kidney disease?
Ask your doctor first: kidney disease can change how much protein is right for you.
Does Steady track my protein?
Yes. Log protein in a tap and see how close you are to your daily target.
Is Steady on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Steady is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android.
Is Steady medical advice?
No. Steady records what you log and does arithmetic on it. It does not diagnose, prescribe or recommend a dose, and it is not a substitute for your prescriber or pharmacist.
